Myles McLaughlin sets Indiana's all-time rushing mark

If resetting Indiana’s all-time single season rushing record wasn’t enough for Knox (IN) quarterback Myles McLaughlin, the next accolade the senior took over on Friday night was for the state’s all-time rushing mark for a high school career.

In Knox Community’s 50-35 win over Griffith Senior, McLaughlin rushed for 408 yards and now is Indiana’s all-time rushing leader at 11,004 and counting as the Redskins are in the midst of the IHSA’s Class 3A playoffs.

In last week’s win over Jimtown, McLaughlin rushed for 469 yards and seven touchdowns, resetting Indiana’s all-time single season rushing record now at 4,011 and counting. With at least one game and possibly more left on the slate for McLaughlin, the senior will likely add to his multiple all-time records when it pertains to single season and for a high school career.

Earlier this season, McLaughlin, who now has carried the ball 309 times and scored 55 touchdowns on the ground this season, had joined former New Palestine standout Charlie Spegal as the only two runners to ever break the 10,000-yard plateau in Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) football history.

McLaughlin has had to do very little throwing from his signal caller position, completing 9 of 19 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns through 11 games played.

Up next for Knox is a 3A sectional championship matchup against Marian (4-7).
