No. 17 Mission Viejo receives in-season transfers from Bishop Montgomery, Kapa’a (HI)

Transferring in high school sports doesn’t stop just because teams are in-season and in the case of Mission Viejo (Calif.), the No. 17 ranked team in the country and No. 6 in California, they got a couple transfers very recently.
According to a report by the Orange County Register, the Diablos received transfers in former Bishop Montgomery freshman lineman Hansen Makaafi and Kapa’a (HI) junior stalwart Amaziah Siale.
Both linemen played in Mission Viejo’s 37-20 victory over Edison last week, per the OC Register report and confirmed by Diablos head coach Chad Johnson.
Makaafi, who per the report is 6-foot, 250 pounds, and Siale, who stands 6-foot-7, 330 pounds, both become additions to the line of scrimmage for Mission Viejo for the 2025 season.
19 Bishop Montgomery’s incoming transfers were ruled ineligible over the offseason by the CIF Southern Section for breaking Bylaw 202, which is listed by the association as ‘Penalty for Providing Incorrect, Inaccurate, Incomplete or False Information.’

Bishop Montgomery canceled its 2025 football season on back on Sep. 2 on the heels of a tumultuous August in which the Knights had five transfers ruled ineligible.
Four of the 19 football players that California’s CIF Southern Section deemed ineligible from Bishop Montgomery, ended up finding a new home in the Grand Canyon State at Mesa (Ariz.).
The Diablos are currently 8-1 on the season, with their only loss coming against McCallie School of Tennessee on the road in Chattanooga. Mission Viejo (8-1) closes out the regular season this week against Los Alamitos (8-1).
