Oklahoma high school football star Semaj Stanford transferring programs

Semaj Stanford, one of the top high school football players in Oklahoma last season, will be at a new school for his junior campaign.

Stanford played at powerhouse Jenks for the past two seasons, earning a varsity role as a freshman before starring on both sides of the ball as a junior. But he’ll play next at nearby Broken Arrow — about a 25-minute drive from his current program.

“I will be transferring to Broken Arrow,” he wrote on Twitter announcing his decision to transfer. “I will be finishing track season at Jenks and competing for a state championship. Then I will be enrolling into Broken Arrow when school ends. Thank you Jenks for everything you’ve done for me and my family especially Coach Gaylor. Can’t give enough praise for what he has done for me and my family, will forever be grateful.l give all glory to God which he led me through this Decision. ALL COLLEGE COACHES ROLLING IN FOR SPRING I AM STILL AT JENKS!!!!!!”

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder is ranked as the nation’s No. 146 recruit in the 2027 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also checks in as the country’s No. 14 safety and the No. 2 rising junior prospect in the Sooner State.

Stanford already holds well over a dozen Division I offers, including Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Houston, Miami, Oregon and more.

In addition to his exploits on the football field, he’s one of the state’s top sprinters. Earlier this spring, he clocked a 10.64-second time in the 100-meter dash, placing him in the top 10 in the state this year.

He will join a Broken Arrow football program coming off a 4-8 season in 2024, their third consecutive losing season.
