Tennessee High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Sept. 10

The high school football season kicked off in Tennessee last week, and many of the top programs in the Volunteer State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Tennessee high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Sept. 10.

1. McCallie School Blue Tornados

The reigning Tennessee high school football Division II Class AAA champions improved to 3-0 after a 52-0 shutout victory against Father Ryan. McCallie School scored 42 first-half points to put the game out of reach. They can score their tenth consecutive victory against Ensworth on September 12.

2. Baylor School Red Raiders

The Red Raiders have won two consecutive games after a one-point victory over Georgia’s Rabun Gap-Nacoochee. That’s 14 wins in the last 15 games for Baylor School, and they can add one more by defeating Missouri’s Lift for Life Academy on September 12.

3. Oakland Patriots

For the second straight game, the Patriots have kept their opponent scoreless. Oakland improved to 3-0 after a 35-0 shutout of Smyrna. The reigning Division 1 Class 6A champions’ ground game was working against the Bulldogs, leading to 192 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Donte Cameron connected with University of Tennessee commit Joel Wyatt for the game’s lone passing TD. The Patriots can earn their tenth consecutive victory by defeating Pearl-Cohn on September 12.

4. Ravenwood Raptors

The Raptors remain perfect after three games via a 43-14 win against Green Hill. It’s their first double-digit win of the 2025 Tennessee high school football season after defeating their first two opponents by a total of five points. Next on Ravenwood’s schedule is a road game against Summit on September 12.

5. Battle Ground Academy Wildcats

The Wildcats are off to a good start after a 42-17 victory over Pearl-Cohn. Quarterback Kaedyn Marable dominated the Firebirds, finishing with 265 passing yards, 69 rushing yards, and four touchdowns. Max Curry had three receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, the Battle Ground Academy defense has 11 tackles for losses, three sacks, and an interception. The Wildcats can improve to 4-0 by beating Connecticut’s Greenwich Country Day on September 12.

6. Alcoa Tornadoes

The Tornadoes have dominated their last two opponents, winning both games by a total score of 115-20. That count includes a 52-7 victory over Gibbs, wherein quarterback Thomas Manu threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another one. Two of Manu’s scoring throws went to Jamir Dean, who finished with 82 receiving yards. Dean also tallied one of Alcoa’s two sacks. The Tornadoes will try to earn another road victory, this time against Knoxville West on September 11.

7. Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish

The Fighting Irish have won three games in a row. Their latest victory was a 41-20 beatdown against Lipscomb Academy, in which quarterback Mack Bartholomew threw for one touchdown and rushed for two more. Matthew Rodgers also had two rushing touchdowns, while Tyreek King had five catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Knoxville Catholic can exceed its win total from the 2024 Tennessee high school football season by beating Montgomery Bell Academy on September 19.

8. Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions

The Lions remain in the top ten despite a 23-7 loss to Tupelo, Mississippi’s top-ranked team. Owen Cabell was commendable in that game, as he finished with 113 receiving yards and a touchdown. Christ Presbyterian Academy can get back on the winning track by defeating Ohio’s Archbishop Moeller on September 12.

9. Brentwood Academy Eagles

The Eagles have scored 45 points in each of their first two victories. Conversely, they limited the Brentwood Bruins to 21 points. Led by Kesean Bowman, Kenneth Simon II, Easton Jointer, and Romel Koon, Brentwood Academy will play another road game against Chattanooga Christian on September 12.

10. Maryville Rebels

The Rebels have won two in a row after a 56-0 shutout of Bearden. Maryville scored 42 first-half points to put the game out of reach, and gained 208 rushing yards in the victory. Cohen Babelay had a rushing and a receiving touchdown, while Will Jones finished with 147 passing yards and two touchdowns. Dax Cole, Mack Serr, Tory Beaufort, and Tyler Sigmund scored touchdowns on offense. Meanwhile, the Rebels’ defense also contributed touchdowns from a fumble return and an interception return. Maryville can improve to 4-0 by picking up another road victory, this time against Cleveland on September 12.
