One of Pennsylvania’s top high school football players heard his fate when it came to a decision by the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) on Monday.

According to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, by Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Mike White, Penn State four-star commit Kahlil Taylor has been ruled eligible for the 2025 regular season, but is ineligible for the WPIAL postseason, under Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) transfer rules.

Taylor transferred from Seton-LaSalle to Pine-Richland, the state’s No. 6-ranked team, during the off-season. The future Nittany Lion can appeal the ruling and seek a waiver in regards to his eligibility for the PIAA playoffs.

Taylor was arguably one of the best players in the state last year with the kind of numbers he was putting up at Seton LaSalle. The 2026 wide receiver hauled in 51 passes for 932 yards and scored 22 touchdowns in helping lead the Rebels to a 11-1 record and reaching the WPIAL championship game.

Arriving at Pine-Richland, Taylor pairs with 2027 junior quarterback Aaron Strader Jr., who threw for 1,755 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2024.

The Rivals Industry Rankings, which combines Rivals, 247Sports and ESPN for a cumulative grade, also rate him highly at No. 50 overall, ninth at receiver and fourth overall in the Keystone State.

“Khalil Taylor put together some dominant film,” said Rivals Scouting Director Charles Power. “He’s outstanding with the ball in his hands. I mean, you know it’s going to be good when you’re watching a sophomore and he has a highlight film of just touchdowns. He had a dominant sophomore year with 24 touchdowns and close to 1,300 yards. He has a well-rounded skill set. He’s a guy who can separate with his routes. I think he’s really good with the ball in his hands and has the potential to be a YAC (yards after catch) monster.

“But also, he’s strong at the catch point and has big hands. I think he’s a pretty natural pass-catcher. So, given his skill perspective, how well-rounded he is and the fact that he’s hyper productive, I look at him as a guy who could do a little bit of everything.”

Pine-Richland features two other Power 4 commitments on their roster, including 2026 four-star defensive back Lawrence Timmons (Florida State commit) and three-star offensive lineman John Curran (Pittsburgh commit).
