His opinions were based off OU getting blown out by two of the best SEC teams in history lol. Ole Miss before the portal was finishing with 10 win seasons during that time.

His opinions were based off the fact that we played ZERO defense at that time. This isn't hard and it's not inaccurate.

In my opinion a lot of what he said was accurate. Changing to BV when we did was quite possibly the best thing our program could have done at the time. Continuing to have TBOW here at the start of our SEC debut would have likely done irreparable damage to the reputation of the program.

Our 2015-2020 teams would not have gotten wrecked in the SEC. They would have consistently been toward the top of the conference.

So what? If we played defense, we would have been had the best teams of all time. Instead, we just had some top 5 teams.

Let's rank those 2015-20 teams, shall we? 1. 2017 2. 2018 3. 2015 4. 2016 5. 2019 6. 2020 Of those teams - which do you think would've truly competed for an SEC ship? I can ONLY think that 2017 & maybe '18 would've. Outside of that - I don't think they would've fared any better than our '25 team. We had putrid to mediocre defenses in each of those years. We were gonna get our shit pushed in against each of the Bama/Georgia/LSU teams that owned the league in those years... on top of some other heavy hitters as well. People OH SO QUICKLY forget how unbelievably weak and easy the Big 12 was from 2010-2020. Okie Lite had a couple good years, as did Baylor and TCU... but NO ONE was anywhere near our level from year to year, and it showed. And it also showed when we got wrecked against SEC teams in the Playoffs 3 separate times. And people also forget so quickly how ridiculously un-physical TBOW's teams became as we advanced further into his tenure. I'd argue we would've been 10-2 in 2017 and probably 9-3 at best in 2018. 7-5 to 8-4 during the other years with our D.

Eh, 2016 Auburn finished second in the SEC West and we punked them pretty easily in the Sugar Bowl. Think our 2016 team probably finishes top 5 in the conference that year.

Not to be "that guy"... but I will be... but I take every non-playoff win with a massive grain of salt. We were still better than Auburn - so I'll grant you that... and by the end of the season NO ONE wanted to play us. Defense was actually playing much better than they were earlier in the year. If we wouldn't have had that Houston loss, we would've been in the playoffs no doubt. But I just have a hard time believing we'd have been any better than 8-4 against the gauntlet of the SEC schedule with that team.

I would love to see how the 2014 team would've fared. I wouldn't pick them to win the SEC but they were a 4 loss team in the big 12. I actually think that team would've done pretty well in the SEC. The SEC was much more run oriented back then and that OU team had some NFL size up front.

The SEC depth wasn’t the same back then, it was usually a Saban or Meyer team dominating with a couple of other good teams. The scheduling was way different too. Between 2004-2019, Alabama and Georgia only played 3 times in the regular season. The “gauntlet” didn’t exist back then like it does now.

No, not all of us hated him. He was correct and those that were mad at him for that were unjustified. Its sort of like being mad at Joel Klatt or any other big college football personality. I don't think it's worth anyone's time.
