Outbid or planned flip?

Hopefully our insiders can give insight. We heard for at least 2 years how talented our team was. Now it seems we are at a fire sale. New coach, new GM, etc. Are they just looking to flip what we think is a talented roster but new staff views differently, or are we being raided a weak kid’s lunch money?

We are being forced to pay the "Suck Tax" for our own players who went 4-8. Even guys that didnt sniff the field are trying to extort us for more money. Pay it for the core guys we all agree on. We need to get the stench of losing out of the building. We can rebuild the roster quick and have a coach that was having to rebuild his roster via the portal every year at Tulane. This offseason is going to be crazy but it will stabilize after a successful year 1.

What fire sale? Who have we lost so far that you are so upset about?

We saved a bunch of money by not hiring Kiffin. Those donors need to pony up and make sure CJS has a competitive roster next year. Hopefully everyone gets this.

There’s some top end talent here but there’s also a lot of fat that needs to be trimmed, and that’s exactly what’s happening.

I think a little both. This team is way more talented than their record, but also not as talented as us fans think. We definitely need the turnover from a culture perspective at least. Regarding NIL, 90%+ of transfers will be due to a misalignment in player perceived value w GM value. Baugh and Wilson don’t fall into this category, of course — JMO I think Caldwell would be willing to spend more on Wilson than Baugh

Only name I could even imagine yet is Mizell and that’s not a major one. Anyone who thought we were getting out of this completely unscathed was wishcasting. Even teams who didn’t have a coaching change are gonna see a boat load of defections, it’s how this works now.

Agree on Mizell. But he really hasn't done anything if you think about it. If we do in fact keep VB3 and Dallas, one more higher end add in the portal and we are better at WR next year. The rest of the guys we have lost are not big losses....like at all. Baugh is a big test. I want him badly, but if we lose him, I will put good money that we bring in a few very capable backs.

Coaching salary does not come from same pool as NIL. Boosters do not pay coaches salary. The school does. Sumrall loves the portal, he has needed it to survive and ended up thriving with it. We have a roster full of players that know nothing but losing yet want to extort us for money they do not deserve. We need a good reset. Keep the key guys and then let Sumrall go to work in the portal and bring in guys that know how to WIN.

We’ll see what happens with the people we want to keep. So far everyone that’s left I very much doubt we cared about keeping. Baugh would be a black eye.

I’m very worried that we are approaching our roster like an NFL roster. Yes, pay up for your studs but we can’t ignore other talent on the roster either. Have to find a good balance between both. It sounds more like we are going to be top heavy and very weak in the 2nd and 3rd string.

If we want a player and Texas wants a player we are not winning an nil battle… we don’t even play the same sport that way

Yes I think it’s ok as a Gator fan to state I hope our large donors spend their money and pony up more than they have in the past to give us a competitive roster next year. I know I know - that’s such a wild and crazy thing to say! 🙄

This cracks me up. Someone who doesn’t donate squat is going to demand how others donate 😂 😝 😆

Yesterday's price ain't today's price. If Sumrall is trying to win right away. You have to pay the right players that are ready to contribute right away.

Hard truth for Gator Nation: with a coaching change, significant talent losses, a weak offensive line, and potentially losing a star running back, expectations have to reset. Don’t be surprised if Vegas posts the 2026 win total at 4.5, and even that may be generous. This is a full-scale rebuild. And that’s without mentioning zero returning QB experience, including the gamble on Philo. The storm isn’t here yet — it’s coming. Buckle up. That said, I do believe we finally hired the right guy, so there is real reason for hope on the other side of this.

If Baugh wants to be at UF, he'll accept the offer and stay. If more $$ is what he wants, he can go. He's a 1 year rental. Use that money else where. There'll be plenty RBs in the portal to pair with Clark and Louis. This is the game now, it is what it is.

Well.... this is pro football now that players are getting paid, except they dont have contracts that keep them from leaving.

Exactly, after 2026 he will be playing on Sundays barring major injury. Fix O line , d line , secondary , get a kicker .
