Yea but portal also comes down to $. Without knowing more hard to put it all on Garner. Im shocked we didn't have more visits for DL. Still surprised it doesn't appear we contacted the DT from Cal. Hes still out there. Is the UF DT still in play?

Gilliam Is going to be good. One more would be nice, but you do need to play your recruits at some point.

I'm shocked we couldn't get one "grown man" at DT given that we were really bad there last year, lost both starters, lost the DE we had to slide inside after an injury to Moi, and have an injury history with the two returning light in the pants veterans. I feel like we did well in the portal overall, but only getting Gilliam is a big let down at DT. We are very young at DT and our top 5 guys have a lot of physical development still needed.

I believe it was @Volburger who said Garner doesn’t like spending a bunch of money transfers. He tries to bank on his reputation as a developer and eventually turning them into NFL draft picks.

Tennessee doesn’t like to spend a lot of money on DL in general. Pearce, Josephs and Ross were the exceptions. When you play 10-12 DL/DE there’s only so much money to go around.

I don’t know how motivated Garner is. I thought he was gonna retire after last year but Tennessee probably made him a nice offer to help with the transition to new DC
