After racking up around 20 offers, Humble (Texas) Summer Creek four-star EDGE Chad Woodfork is ready to begin narrowing down his recruitment.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-4.5, 220-pounder announced his top nine schools: Texas Tech, Houston, USC, Georgia, Baylor, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State and Texas.

Woodfork is the No. 55 overall prospect and No. 6 EDGE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 player in Texas.

Texas has already had Woodfork on campus twice and is set to welcome him back to The Forty Acres this weekend for a stacked Junior Day visit lineup. The Longhorns also have Woodfork’s fandom in their favor.

“I was born and raised in Texas, and I’m a huge Texas fan. I’ve been a Longhorns fan my whole life,” Woodfork told On3’s Sam Spiegelman back in May.

Woodfork talks USC, Georgia

Georgia got in the mix in August as linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe offered. The Bulldogs will always be a player in any major recruitment, and Woodfork’s is no different as of Jan. 17.

“It was crazy. It was one of the crazier experiences ever, I’m not going to lie. They’re the National Champs. It’s D-Line University really,” Woodfork told DawgsHQ. “When you think of Georgia, you think of constant success. Every year, they’re up there. They’re doing things all the time that other schools don’t have. They’re just doing something right always.”

The Trojans offered Woodfork back in September, as USC linebackers coach Roy Manning has long been interested in the Lone Star State product.

“(Manning) came and saw me in the spring and liked what he saw then. He wanted to see some more on the field stuff and he saw it and decided to finally offer,” Woodfork told WeAreSC. “They’re obviously one of the best schools in the country for football and academics. Also one of, if not the best locations in all of college football.”

Scouting Chad Woodfork

“At 6-foot-5 and north of 230 pounds, Woodfork is a force setting the edge in the run and is enormously powerful and stout at the point of attack,” Spiegelman wrote of the EDGE in October. “Woodfork’s length and power are just a few of the reasons why On3 is high on the Houston-area EDGE defender. He’s a traitsy prospect that is just scratching the surface of his potential up front.”

Woodfork has an On3 NIL Valuation of $71K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
