Baye Ndongo, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound power forward out of Denver (Colo.) Colorado Prep, is down to five schools: Colorado, Nebraska, San Diego, Michigan, and Rutgers.

The 2023 prospect originally from Senegal has visited each of his finalists besides Rutgers. Ndongo plans to make a decision before the end of the year.

Ndongo cut down his list to a top 10 in November. Arizona State, Mississippi State, Providence, Pitt, Utah, and Washington State were all previously considered.

Ndongo talks finalists

Nebraska and Colorado: “The way they play the game, it kind of fits how I play. Really all of them play how I want to play. I know if I go there, I will play and I like their style and the coaches.”

San Diego: “I like it because they have some tall players like me. Coach (Steve) Lavin did a lot of good things at UCLA and I know he can help me get to where I want to go.”

Rutgers: “Rutgers has players that came from where I’m from and they help them get to where they want to go. They know who we are as a person and as a player.”

Michigan: “Coach (Juwan) Howard has done a lot of good things. I know if I go there, he will help me get where I want to go.”

More on Ndongo

The below segment is written by On3’s Robin Washut.

Ndongo grew up playing primarily soccer, and he didn’t start organized basketball until he was 14 years old. He quickly flourished on the hardwood after joining the NBA youth development program in his home country.

Ndongo eventually represented Senegal at the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup. He further raised his stock with a strong showing in the Border League in October 2021.

He moved to the United States and attended the Darrow School in New York for two years. Ndongo then transferred to Colorado Prep in Denver, and high-major programs quickly came calling. Nebraska offered him this past October.

Ndongo has already gotten off to an impressive start at Colorado Prep. He scored 31 points on 12-of-12 shooting with 12 rebounds in a win over Spire (Ohio) Academy on Nov. 23.
