Tupleo (Miss.) four-star defensive end JaReylan McCoy is closing in on his (second) college commitment.

The one-time LSU pledge is now down to three schools, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Thursday: Texas, Florida and LSU. Last month, he included those three programs and Auburn in his top schools list, but the Tigers now are on the outside looking in with a little more than a month until he announces on July 1.

He previously committed to LSU in January during the Under Armour All-American game, but just over a month later, he backed off that pledge.

Brian Kelly and Co. are again very much in the thick of the race, but it’s the Gators who have come on strong this spring.

“The coaches and the players have Florida high on my list,” McCoy said in an interview with On3’s Chad Simmons. “I get a lot of love from the Florida coaches. They made the biggest move for me this spring.

… “I’m loving coach Billy Napier‘s program over there in Florida. Coach Chatman and Coach Patterson just made me feel like part of the football team. I got to hang out with players too and they made it relaxed and not uptight. When I met with coach Napier, he said himself that I am a priority for him.”

The Longhorns have also become a significant threat, and they will host him June 6-8, a week after he visits Florida. New EDGE coach LaAllan Clark recruited McCoy when he was at Ohio State, and the two have continued to build on that relationship since he came to Austin.

“Coach Clark has always been so real to me,” McCoy recently told InsideTexas. “He’s genuine and honest, and just wants the best for the guys he’s building relationships with. He wants to help me get to the next level, but also become a better man. Then I’m watching the scrimmage, and I see Colin Simmons and those guys making plays. That’s the type of defense I want to play for.”

As a junior, McCoy tallied 30 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, four QB pressures, and two sacks in 2024. Over the last three years, he’s notched 114 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, and one defensive touchdown.

He ranks as the No. 161 overall prospect and No. 17 defensive lineman in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
