Four-star wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. of Los Alamitos (Calif.) High has narrowed his list to five schools on Friday.

Moore, the No. 50 player in the On3 Top 100, said USC, Oklahoma, Florida State, Oregon and Alabama. Moore also said he will announce his commitment on Sept. 24.

Moore said USC – even though it is searching for a new head coach – has always been a school that stood out.

“I’m a Southern California guy, so USC has always stood out to me,” DeAndre Moore Jr. said. “I’m big on loyalty and who was there from the beginning and USC has always maintained a good level of communication. I feel as if I have a very strong connection with them.”

Moore said the family atmosphere at Florida State has impressed him.

“I know you hear a lot about family atmospheres,” Moore said. “But this was different.”

“Coach (Kenny) Dillingham has literally been there from the beginning. He offered me in the 8th grade to Auburn, and he’s a West Coast guy, so we have built a really strong connection over the years.”

Moore said he was shocked – in a good way – with what he saw at Florida State’s Midnight Madness camp.

“Just meeting the coaching staff and seeing how hard they push their players on and off of the field really caught my attention,” he said. “It was something I really liked.”

DeAndre Moore also likes OU, Alabama, Oregon

DeAndre Moore Jr. said he’s built strong relationships with the coaches at Oklahoma.

“I was really big on Oklahoma going into my visit, but when I stepped foot on campus it was just overwhelming with how much love everyone had for the university,” Moore said. “I loved it. I’ve built really strong connections with Oklahoma’s coaching staff as well. Especially coach (DeMarco) Murray, with him being a Nevada guy it was really easy for us to connect. Coach (Lincoln) Riley has always been real with me, and you can really gravitate towards a guy like that.”

Alabama and Oregon impresses, too.

“When I visited Alabama, the atmosphere was completely different,” Moore said. “It was all about business! From coach (Nick) Saban all the way down, they had one goal and a one-track mindset.

“My visit to Oregon really shocked me,” DeAndre Moore Jr. said. “The only PAC-12 school I was looking at, at the time, was USC. When I touched campus and got to experience the energy, great people, and staff at Oregon it was hard not to love it.”
