4-star LB Devon Jackson remaining committed to Oregon
Count Omaha (Neb.) Burke four-star linebacker Devon Jackson among those recruits staying committed to Oregon despite Mario Cristobal bolting for Miami.
Jackson told ABC’s Omaha affiliate that he believes Oregon is right spot of him as both a player and a person.
“I’m staying here because it’s more than just him,” Jackson said. “It’s the whole package that Oregon is offering me. I feel like I can become a better person than a football player there. Doesn’t matter who’s coaching me because I feel like football will always take care of itself.”
Devon Jackson is the No. 174 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He is the top player from Nebraska in the 2022 recruiting class.
Three players have decommitted from the Ducks in the past few days: Humble (Texas) Summer Creek five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks, Gordo (Ala.) High four-star quarterback Tanner Bailey and Montogermy (Ala.) Catholic Prep four-star linebacker T.J. Dudley.
Oregon now has the No. 10 overall class in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking with 16 commits.
Devon Jackson is the fourth-best player in the recruiting class behind Anaheim (Calif.) Servite four-star wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, San Diego Lincoln four-star cornerback Jalil Tucker and San Diego Lincoln four-star cornerback Jahlil Florence.
“They are not just going to hire just anybody to be the head coach or just coach there in general,” Jackson said. “They are going to hire someone that is pretty good always.”
