Gulf Shores (Ala.) native and Baton Rouge Central (La.) four-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett has decommitted from Auburn.

He was pledged to the Tigers since July 27, when he chose the home-state program over LSU.

Garrett is the No. 263 overall prospect and No. 18 LB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in Louisiana.

The 6-foot-0.5, 195-pounder continued to garner interest from top programs despite his commitment to Auburn. The likes of Miami, Oregon, Ole Miss and Texas A&M have been in pursuit of the blue-chipper and will be schools to keep an eye on moving forward.

“If anything changes, it will be before the season starts,” Garrett told On3’s Chad Simmons at the end of April. “Auburn is still the school I am committed to, but I am looking at my options and I will take visits. I want to give some of these great schools a chance since they are recruiting me so hard.”
