Lamar Brown, one of the top point-of-attack players in the 2026 class, has locked in an official visit to Texas and canceled another to Florida State, according to On3’s Chad Simmons. The news was first reported by Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman.

Brown, who is set to see Texas on June 6, also already has visits scheduled with Miami (May 30), Texas A&M (June 13) and LSU (June 20). The Longhorns now essentially replace the Seminoles in his list of his top schools, which he released first in February.

“It is really those four schools,” Brown told On3’s Chad Simmons at the time. “It really came down to me deciding to play defensive line in college. A lot of schools wanted to play offensive line, but those four schools were the ones recruiting me the hardest as a defensive lineman.”

The Longhorns, despite not being in his initial top four, remained in pursuit of him over the past few months. Brown has a strong connection with new defensive ends coach LaAllan Clark, and that makes them one of the top contenders right now.

“When I look at schools, I wanna have that great relationship with my position and they [Texas] top it off,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I will 100% say that I have the best relationship with Coach Clark than any other school I’m interested in right now. And this is not even a knock off to the other DL coaches because I have a great relationship with them also.”

Their connection goes back even further than just his recruiting process.

“Coach Steve and the staff always made a push at some point but what really boosted it was when Coach Clark went there,” he added. “Me and Coach Clark’s bond outside of football is amazing. When I was a little kid, we knew each other well. I used to go to his football camps and his dad coached me at my middle school for basketball.”

Every team is recruiting Brown to play on the DL

Brown, who initially projected as an interior offensive lineman at the next level, has dropped significant weight and now is looking to play on the opposite side.

“I decided to play D-line,” he told TheBengalTiger.com earlier this month. “I feel like to get me where I wanna go, which is the NFL, that’s the best decision for me. I played my whole life more experience on that side of the ball, and I’m athletic to play on that side, so I feel comfortable on that side of the ball.”

Brown ranks as the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2026 class and No. 1 recruit in Louisiana, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Originally set to announce his commitment on July 4, he will instead make the call on July 10.
