Illinois guard Andrej Stojaković rolled his ankle during the first half of the Fighting Illini’s game vs. Missouri on Monday night. Stojaković went to the locker room shortly after coming out of the game.

Stojaković was running back on on defense when the apparent injury occurred. It appeared to be a non-contact injury. He tried to walk it off while speaking with training staff, but eventually hobbled his way to the back.

He didn’t play again during the first half, but did re-emerge from the tunnel before halftime. He was walking around close to the sideline, and it appeared as though he was hoping to get put back into the game.

Stojaković would return early on in the second half and provide an instant boost to the Fighting Illini. They’d go on to outscore Missouri 16-5 in the first eight minutes of the second half to stretch its lead to 27 points.

Losing Stojaković for any time would be a major blow for Illinois’ lineup, though it didn’t hurt Illinois in the first half. He came into Monday’s matchup averaging 15.5 points across a 53.7% field goal percentage to go along with 4.1 rebounds per game.

He most recently scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on Dec. 13 against Nebraska. Stojaković has scored 20 or more points on four occasions this season, all of which came during a five-game stretch in November. This includes a season-high 26 points in a loss to Alabama.

Stojaković dealt with a knee injury late in the offseason which caused him to miss the season opener. It’s the only game he’s missed so far this season.

Heading into the matchup, Illinois boasts an 8-3 record and and ranked 20th in the country in the latest AP Top 25 poll. They’re coming off an 83-80 loss to the Huskers nine days ago when Nebraska beat the buzzer to upset the Illini.

After wrapping things up against the Tigers, Illinois will turn its attention toward Southern next Monday (Dec. 29) live on the Big Ten Network. They’ll fully dive into Big Ten Conference action beginning on Jan. 3 when they travel to Happy Valley to take on Penn State.

Illinois is currently 1-1 against the Big Ten so far, including a win vs. Ohio State and the aforementioned loss to Nebraska.
