Championship Week Picks: Oregon vs Washington | PAC 12 Championship | 11.27.23

One of the most highly anticipated upcoming conference championship games lies in the Pac-12, as Washington and Oregon will square off on Friday in a rematch of one of the most exhilarating college football games of the regular season.

A touchdown in the last two minutes of the game gave the Huskies the 36-33 home win over Oregon in Week 7, but for the Pac-12 Championship game, the Ducks are favored by 9.5 points over Washington following the dominance Oregon has shown to finish out the remainder of the regular season.

Washington remains undefeated despite a handful of close calls following their narrow win over Oregon, but does that mean the Huskies should be 9.5-point underdogs? On3’s Andy Staples and VSiN’s Patrick Meagher discussed the point spread of the Pac-12 title game and made their predictions on Friday’s marquee rematch.

“We can talk about Washington being out-gained by Washington State, and out-gained by Oregon State, and giving up 515 (yards) to USC. 19-0 in their last 19 (games),” Meagher said. “Last year they went to Eugene and beat Oregon when Oregon was ranked six 37-34. Oh by the way Washington, and I don’t know how they’re doing it Andy they’re pulling it out of their whatever, but they beat Texas in the bowl game last year DeBoer is a hell of a coach. I’m not, there is no chance I’m laying almost doubles [double digits] with Oregon in this matchup and I think Oregon’s the better team.”

Meagher is not a fan of the Ducks being favored so heavily in their conference title game and Staples agrees despite the two both believing that Oregon will be the ones hoisting the Pac-12 Championship trophy when Friday’s game is all said and done.

“I almost don’t care what’s happened in between. I picked Oregon the first time around because I thought Oregon was the better team, I still think Oregon is the better team,” Staples said. “But I’m a big styles make fights guy, and I feel like Washington can still score on Oregon just like they did last time. I think Oregon can win this game, but I have a hard time buying winning by double digits. That’s tough, so I’m with you, I think Oregon’s gonna win the Pac-12, I think Oregon is gonna make the playoff, I think Washington’s gonna cover.”
