Arch Manning injury update: Steve Sarkisian gives latest on QB after OT win

Texas escaped Starkville with a miraculous comeback win against Mississippi State in overtime. They closed out the game with Matthew Caldwell playing quarterback due to an Arch Manning injury. Manning left the game after picking up a first down in the extra period, going straight to the medical tent.
Since there was not another offensive drive for Texas, the status of Manning was not revealed. And afterward, Steve Sarkisian did not have much either. More information will come from the Texas head coach on Monday as Texas prepares to face Vanderbilt in Austin.
“Steve Sarkisian doesn’t have an update on Arch Manning after he left the game in overtime, says he’ll have more information on Monday,” On3 | Rivals’ Inside Texas said via X.
Later in his press conference, Sarkisian went on the praise the play of his quarterback. Manning threw 46 passes on the afternoon, completing 29 of them for 346 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Pressure remained in his face as Mississippi State found ways to get through the Texas offensive line on a consistent basis.
Manning even got into the endzone on the ground, the first touchdown of the game. Not much else to speak of there after six yards on 10 carries. Mississippi State getting five sacks does not help, considering how the NCAA officially keeps track of stats.

For now, all attention turns to Manning’s long-term health. The schedule does not get any easier for Texas after a fun month on the road.
Questions surround health of Arch Manning heading into Vanderbilt
Texas fans likely let out a huge sigh of relief once the defense sealed the overtime victory. It’s a second straight weekend where the Longhorns maybe got away with one, stealing a win despite not playing well at all.
Now, for the first time since Sept. 20, Texas is set to play inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The perceived level of competition takes a step up too with Vanderbilt coming to town. Already ranked No. 10, winning on Saturday vs. Missouri means the Commodores might wind up moving up even further in the AP poll.
Plenty of storylines are set leading into it. But arguably none more appealing than the health of Manning. Sarkisian providing more information on Monday likely gives everyone a feel for what Manning’s status might end up being. If not, the SEC injury reports are the next best outlet.
