<a href="https://www.on3.com/db/treylon-burks-116324/">Treylon Burks</a> burst onto the scene for <a href="https://www.on3.com/college/arkansas-razorbacks/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Arkansas</a> over the last two years. Now, he’s a first-round draft pick. The Tennessee Titans drafted Burks No. 18 overall in the <a href="https://www.on3.com/nfl/draft/2022/?round=1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2022 NFL Draft</a> Thursday night after <a href="https://www.on3.com/news/aj-brown-trade-tennessee-titans-agree-nfl-draft-blockbuster-deal-philadelphia-eagles/">trading away</a> star wide receiver <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/a.j.-brown-55">AJ Brown</a> to the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Razorbacks star had a huge 2022 season to hear his name called in the first round.



Burks had 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns for Arkansas in 2021 and was virtually a consensus pick to be selected on Thursday. He earned first team All-SEC honors for his efforts just one year after being named second-team All-SEC. He was a big part of the Arkansas offense, but now it’s time for him to try and do the same thing in the NFL.



Out of high school, Burks was a four-star recruit and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Arkansas from the Class of 2019, according to the <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/rankings/consensus-player/football/2019/?state=ar" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">On3 Consensus</a>, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Despite being a consensus first-round pick, NFL.com gave Burks a 6.50 grade — meaning he has “boom-or-bust potential” in the league. <a href="https://www.nfl.com/prospects/treylon-burks/32004255-5232-1327-f36e-987913d19348" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein</a> explained why Burks was still a solid prospect and how he could wind up playing a major role in the league.



“Big, smooth and natural, Burks possesses the versatility to operate from wherever you want and get to wherever you need no matter the competition,” Zierlein wrote. “He’s a mismatch receiver combining size, strength and competitiveness similar to the Titans’ <a href="https://www.on3.com/db/a.j.-brown-55" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">A.J. Brown</a>, but his speed testing at the NFL Scouting Combine did not meet expectations. 



“Arkansas benefitted by putting the ball in his hands from a variety of alignments and there is no reason to believe NFL play-callers won’t benefit from doing the same. The tape is extremely exciting with real NFL skills jumping off the screen, but his potential to become a high-volume, three-level target is a little more cloudy after a relatively disappointing showing at the combine.
