Auburn hiring Liberty defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett

Liberty defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett is joining Hugh Freeze at Auburn.
Freeze is hiring Garrett as the Tigers’ new defensive line coach, sources tell On3 and Auburn Live. Garrett is expected to arrive in Auburn in the coming days.
In his one season at Liberty, Garrett helped the Flames rank first nationally in tackles for loss, third in sacks and 26th in defensive yards per play. Prior to Liberty, Garrett spent two years as an assistant defensive line coach in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, where he coached players such as first-team All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett.
Garrett was previously in the SEC as a player at Ole Miss (2004-07) and as a quality control coach at Vanderbilt (2019).

Freeze was hired Monday as Auburn’s replacement for Bryan Harsin, who was fired on Halloween during his second season as the Tigers’ head coach.
Freeze went 34-15 in four seasons at Liberty prior to being hired at Auburn.
“I’ve got a list of every position and a lot of great candidates,” Freeze said of putting a coaching staff together during his introductory press conference Tuesday. “There’s some here. There’s some where I just came from. And they’re all around the country. I’m constantly getting texts. My agent who I have forgotten to thank Jimmy Sexton … he’s got a little whole list too that he presented to me this morning.”
