Auburn lands commitment from high-scoring JUCO guard Abdul Bashir

Abdul Bashir, one of the top JUCO players in the country, has committed to Auburn, he told On3.
The 6-foot-7 sophomore combo guard out of Casper College in Wyoming chose the Tigers over offers from Texas A&M, Nebraska, Arizona State, UCF, Kansas State, Seton Hall, and others.
Bashir, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, is currently averaging 28.2 points per game, which ranks second in the country in the JUCO ranks.

What led to his trust in coach Bruce Pearl and the Auburn staff?
“I trust Coach Pearl and his staff because because they are very genuine and are in this for the right reasons. They want to teach young men as much as they can about this game of basketball and allow people to grow and get through mistakes.”

In his own words, what type of player is Auburn getting in Bashir?
“I’m a scorer. My most valuable trait is probably my shooting but I can create off the dribble for teammates and myself. Can play any position from the 1-3.”
He has a message for Tigers fans.
“I’m going to give the Auburn fans everything I have in the tank and I’m going to play my hardest every time I step on the floor. War Eagle!”
