Auburn WR Horatio Fields to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal
Auburn WR Horatio Fields will be entering his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. That comes per reporting by On3’s Pete Nakos as well as by On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Monday evening, as shared with them by his representation at Atlas Sports.
Fields will end up spending just one season down at Auburn. That’s after he transferred in last offseason following four years spent at Wake Forest.
In what’ll now be his lone year on The Plains, Fields appeared in only four games, due to a broken foot in practice that led to a season-ending surgery for him by the end of September, for the Tigers. He still finished as one of their leading receivers on the season, though, as he had 12 receptions for 106 yards, averaging 26.5 yards per game and 8.8 per catch, and a touchdown over the first four outings of the year for Auburn.
In his four full seasons on the field with the Demon Deacons and the Tigers, Field now has 56 catches in his career for 623 yards, averaging 20.1 per game and 11.1 per reception, and five touchdowns. Now, due to a redshirt, and what could be a medical redshirt due to that injury this season, he should have one year of eligibility left to add to that elsewhere once he enters the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Fields, a native of Douglasville, Georgia, played his high school football at New Manchester. He finished ranked just outside the Top-1,600 overall recruits as a three-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle. He also rated as a Top-225 WR and as a Top-150 player out of the state of Georgia. That’s according to Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

This is now the latest departure expected for Auburn. One month-long portal window already opened for the program last month at the time of their firing of Hugh Freeze. Now, as the program goes into the offseason, now under their new head coach in Alex Golesh, more roster movement should be anticipated ahead for the Tigers.
Fields didn’t get to have much of a season in what’s now his only year at Auburn. With that, he’ll now be transferring again, with plans to have this name in the portal once the two-week window opens come January 2nd.
