Joseph Dodds spent two seasons beginning his collegiate career at Baylor. He’ll now be headed elsewhere, though, following his announcement on Friday.

Dodds shared on social media that he plans to enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. He shared a statement on a graphic in sharing that, as he expressed his appreciation for his two years spent in Waco.

“First and foremost, I thank God for being the head of my life,” wrote Dodds. “I am eternally grateful to have been a part of the Baylor Bear Family. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Baylor University’s Academic and Football Programs, the passionate fanbase, and the entire community for their unwavering support. A special thank you to the coaches and staff for their mentorship, guidance, and for giving me the opportunity to compete at this level.”

“To my teammates, thank you for the brotherhood and the lifelong relationships we have established. I also want to thank my family and church family for their constant prayers, encouraging words, and support throughout my journey,” Dodds wrote. “With that being said, I will be entering the NCAA transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining.”

Dodds spent two years, one off the field as a redshirt for debuting this fall, at Baylor. He went on to make eight appearances this season while in Waco.

This year, Dodds posted 26 carries for 104 yards, at an average of 4.0 per carry, and one touchdown, while also catching two passes for 11 yards, for the Bears. Most of that came in their season finale, as Dodds had a dozen carries for 61 yards and his touchdown in a loss to Houston.

A native of Markham, Texas, Dodds played his high school football at Tidehaven in El Maton. He ranked as a Top 600 overall recruit there as a three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He also rated as a Top 50 RB in the class and as a Top 100 player out of the state of Texas. That’s according to the Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Dodds is now the latest expected transfer so far for Baylor. He’ll then have three years of eligibility left to spend elsewhere in college football once his name is officially in the NCAA Transfer Portal come the opening of its two-week window this offseason on January 2nd.
