One of the nation’s fastest prospects will come off the board on Wednesday. Brenen Thompson, No. 40 in the On300, will announce his decision between Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. CT Wednesday.

The small town speedster out of Spearman (Texas) took an official visit to Texas on Sept. 18. Thompson and family watched the Longhorns beat Rice 58-0 with freshman wide receiver Xavier Worthy putting together a career-best performance.

Thompson made June official visits to Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Oregon. He also made unofficial visits to Texas A&M in March and July, Texas in June and Oklahoma State the first weekend in September.

Brenen Thompson is a 2-sport star

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound two-sport star posted a best 100-meter time of 10.38 as a junior. Brenen Thompson won the Class 3A state title in the 200 meters with a time of 21.27 seconds fully automatic timed. Thompson took home the silver medal in the 100 meters at the state meet with a 10.40 FAT. He plans to compete in football and track at the next level.

Thompson posted the times despite not being fully healthy as a junior. He underwent surgery to remove a bone spur two weeks ago cutting short his senior football season. He’s expected to be back to full speed for track season.

Scouting Thompson

On the football field, Brenen Thompson is a blend of quickness and long speed. He displayed improved arms extended pass-catching ability as a junior. Thompson has flashed the ability to quickly stick a foot in the ground and create a sudden change of direction in short space.

Thompson plays bigger than his size in traffic situations. He does not shy away from physical contact on offense or when playing defensive back.

Thompson is the No. 4 ranked wide receiver in the 2022 class. He is one of 13 prospects from a loaded class in the Lone Star State in the top 40 nationally.
