Vicksburg (Miss.) four-star defensive lineman Caleb Bryant announced his top eight schools on Sunday night. They are Alcorn State, Jackson State, Miami, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon and USC.

Bryant is the No. 480 overall prospect and No. 52 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also a three-star recruit and the No. 8 player in Mississippi.

On3 rates Bryant higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2023 On300, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 35 defensive lineman and No. 6 player in Mississippi.

The 6-foot-2.5, 250-pound prospect was previously committed to Utah. He backed off his pledge to the Utes on Aug. 20.

“So far Oregon, USC, Miami and Mississippi State are recruiting me the hardest,” Bryant told Jonathan Charles on Scoop Duck on Oct. 11. “I plan on deciding in December which school I will be signing with.”

Bryant spoke with Matt Shodell of CaneSport on Sept. 28 about his interest in the Hurricanes. He shared that head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff want “me to come back up there for an official visit.”

“They show a lot of love to their players and I have watched Jaelan Phillips with the Dolphins and saw how he came out of Miami and know that they develop people there,” Bryant said about the Hurricanes.

Nebraska is also making a move for Bryant’s commitment. He shared with Bryan Munson of Husker Online on Aug. 7 that he is “really building a great bond” with running backs coach Bryan Applewhite. Two days later, Scott Schrader of WeAreSC reported that Bryant planned to visit USC in the fall.

Bryant has an On3 NIL Valuation of $11.3K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
