CBS Sports re-seeded the College Football Playoff bracket from No. 1 to 8 with some modest changes to the remaining teams. Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Tulane and James Madison are not a part of this exercise.

With the new seedings comes some new matchups. Although, there are some similar matchups between these teams in the College Football Playoff.

Without further ado, let’s dive into the new bracket, hypothetically of course, from CBS Sports. We’ll look at the top seed.

1. Indiana

The College Football Playoff runs through Indiana, well, wherever Indiana plays. That didn’t change in CBS’ re-seeding.

The Hoosiers went 13-0 and won the Big Ten over Ohio State, last year’s national champs and a fellow unbeaten. Oh yeah, QB Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy.

2. Ohio State

The Buckeyes, by the same logic, keep the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff. Ohio State has a loaded defense, probably better than last year’s at this point, and superstars on offense.

They certainly deserved a first round bye and that does not change here, per CBS. Ryan Day and Ohio State still have a great path for a repeat.

3. Georgia

SEC Champion Georgia gets the No. 3 seed with a first round bye to boot. The College Football Playoff seedings didn’t change yet, per CBS.

Is there an argument for the Bulldogs to be above Ohio State? Maybe. But after careful consideration, there’s no reason to change what we already know.

4. Texas Tech

Then the same goes for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders earned a first round bye by going 12-1 and winning the Big 12.

The NIL investment into the current roster and transfer portal was evident and it paid off. Joey McGuire’s team is legit and could very well have national championship material. But, they’ll get a different matchup based on CBS’ re-seeding.

5. Ole Miss

CBS bumped up Ole Miss one spot in the College Football Playoff based on the first round and the remaining field. If there were any questions on how this team would operate under Pete Golding compared to Lane Kiffin, well, they were answered!

The Rebels wasted no time dispatching Tulane, again, in the first round at home. While they were big favorites, they were not deer in headlights.

6. Oregon

The Ducks blasted James Madison in what was an expected result as well. But Oregon can’t pass Ole Miss in this hypothetical College Football Playoff bracket.

They were ahead of them originally but now behind the Rebels, interestingly enough, per CBS. The only logic, the Ducks’ depth was beaten handily in the second half by JMU when the game was out of reach.

7. Miami

The Hurricanes were the No. 10 seed in the original 12 but now they get a little bump in CBS’ College Football Playoff re-seed. Miami went on the road and beat Texas A&M in the first round with elite defense.

Now if that offense gets going, maybe they give Ohio State a run for their money. That’s not just hypothetical, that’s reality considering they are playing each other in the quarterfinals.

8. Alabama

The Crimson Tide used a comeback to overcome a 17-0 deficit and beat Oklahoma 34-24. They get the bottom seed in the College Football Playoff, among the remaining teams.

Yes, Alabama showed moxie. But if they put themselves in that type of a hole against a team like Indiana, it could be bad news for Kalen DeBoer and company.

Re-seeded CFP Bracket

1. Indiana vs. 8. Alabama (Rose Bowl)
2. Ohio State vs. 7 Miami (Cotton Bowl)
3. Georgia vs. 6. Oregon (Sugar Bowl)
4. Texas Tech vs. 5 Ole Miss (Orange Bowl)

Indiana-Alabama and Ohio State-Miami remain the same as real life. But the College Football Playoff would get new matchups in Georgia vs. Oregon and Texas Tech vs. Ole Miss. Spicy.
