Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 2024 four-star small forward Chase McCarty is down to six schools. Moving forward, the 6-foot-6, 200-pound senior will consider Georgia Tech, Houston, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas Tech.

The Huntsville, Ala. native has officially visited each of his finalists, excluding Texas Tech. He’s set to officially visit the Red Raiders the 29th of September.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Chase McCarty is the No. 73 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. He’s also the No. 26 small forward prospect and the No. 13 player in Florida. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

McCarty talks finalists

“First, I would like to thank all the college programs for recruiting me so far,” McCarty says.

In an in-depth interview with On3, Chase McCarty discussed why each of the following six programs cracked his top schools list.

Texas Tech: “I chose Texas Tech (to be on the list) because of the coaching staff. Their head coach (Grant McCasland) seems like a really nice guy. Great program. They came into the recruiting process a little late, but I can definitely see the vision they have for me. They’ve made me a priority and made me feel like they really want me and I’m excited to see what they have to offer on my visit.”

Kansas: “I chose Kansas for their style of play. Also, they are a really high-level program. They just won a national championship a couple of years ago so I was really excited to be recruited by them. (Bill) Self is a great coach. Great assistant coaches as well. I like the way they can see me in their program.”

Missouri: “I chose them because coach (Dennis) Gates is an awesome, awesome guy. I have a connection to Missouri with Kobe Brown and Kaleb Brown and I know a couple of other players up there. I really enjoyed my visit. The atmosphere is great, the people are great. The coaching staff is amazing, the style of play. The style of play fits to a T, really. They like to get up a lot of threes, fast-paced, defend, switch everything. It’s really like an NBA system.”

Houston: “I chose them mainly because of their assistant coach, Coach Q (Quannas White). He’s probably one of the best recruiters that I’ve been recruited by so far. Coach (Kelvin) Sampson is an awesome head coach. I like the hard-nosed defense that they play. Also they’re style of play, they like to play fast and get up a lot of threes but they also defend at a very high-level.”

Georgia Tech: “I really like Georgia Tech. Not only for the basketball, but the academics side as well. I feel like I’m pretty good in school and I want a good education so that’ll be a good option for me. Coach (Damon) Stoudamire is also a very good coach. He’s going to do a great job coming in this first year. They’re definitely on the rise after getting their two new commits they just got. I’m excited to see where they go and how much better they get.”

Tennessee: “I really like their coaching staff as well. Their style of play is also a big factor in it. I have some connections up there with JP Estrella and Cade Phillips. I played them a couple of times in high school and AAU ball. I really enjoyed my visit up there as well. The vision they have for me and the way the want me to come in and play immediately means a lot to me.”
