October is here, which means there’s plenty to consider for college football rankings. Josh Pate is shaking up his Commissioner’s Poll, as well, with a fresh Top 25 unveiled ahead of Week 6.

There weren’t any changes at the top of Pate’s rankings. Miami and Ohio State held strong in the top two spots, respectively. But from there, some major shakeups took place with some big risers such as Ole Miss and big fallers such as Penn State and Florida State.

Conference matchups are also getting more interesting as the races start to heat up. Here is the full Commissioner’s Poll Top 25 rankings, as unveiled Thursday on Josh Pate’s College Football Show.

1. Miami (-)

Out of the bye week, Miami stayed put in Josh Pate’s Commissioner’s Poll rankings. The Hurricanes are still the No. 1 team in the rankings.

A key matchup awaits this week, though. The Hurricanes will head to Tallahassee to take on a Florida State team looking to bounce back from an upset loss at Virginia a week ago.

2. Ohio State (-)

Also holding strong in the Commissioner’s Poll, Ohio State used a second-half surge to take down Washington last week. That helped the Buckeyes stay at No. 2 in the rankings.

Freshman running back Bo Jackson broke out in the second half of last week’s game to help Ohio State create some separation, running for 80 yards in the effort. The Buckeyes now return to Columbus this week to take on Minnesota.

3. Oregon (+4)

Up four spots to No. 3, Oregon held on for a thrilling victory in a hostile environment. Amid a White Out at Penn State, the Ducks came away with the win in double overtime after the Nittany Lions mounted a late charge.

Dante Moore continues to impress at quarterback for Oregon after a strong showing, going 29-of-39 for 248 yards and three touchdowns. The Ducks now have a bye before an intriguing Week 7 matchup with Indiana.

4. Ole Miss (+10)

The biggest riser in this week’s Commissioner’s Poll, Ole Miss jumped up 10 spots after taking down LSU last week. The Rebels are now a Top-5 team, according to Josh Pate, after a strong showing in Oxford.

Trinidad Chambliss impressed once again at quarterback as he threw for 314 yards and a touchdown while adding 71 rushing yards. The Rebels enter the bye this week before a non-conference matchup with Washington State in Week 7.

5. Oklahoma (-2)

Fresh off a bye, Oklahoma dropped two spots to No. 5 in the Commissioner’s Poll. However, Josh Pate made it clear the ranking does not account for John Mateer’s injury since the Sooners didn’t play last week.

Michael Hawkins will now take over at quarterback as Mateer works his way back from surgery. Oklahoma has Kent State on tap this week, but the Red River Shootout against Texas looms next week as all eyes will remain on the quarterback position.

6. Texas A&M (+5)

Texas A&M continues to steadily rise up the Commissioner’s Poll and is now in the Top 10. The Aggies check in at No. 6 ahead of Week 6 as they get ready for an interesting SEC game.

Mississippi State is making the trip to Kyle Field, fresh off an overtime loss to Tennessee in Starkville. Texas A&M will try to stay undefeated and continue their rise up the rankings.

7. Vanderbilt (+1)

Vanderbilt moved up one spot to No. 7 in this week’s commissioner’s poll. The Commodores find themselves at 5-0 entering Week 6 and facing one of the top games on the schedule, as well.

Diego Pavia and Co. are heading to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama in a rematch of last year’s game. That saw Pavia lead the charge in an upset win over the Crimson Tide – who, like this season, were coming off a win over Georgia the previous week.

8. Texas Tech (+3)

Although Texas Tech was on a bye in Week 5, the Red Raiders now find themselves in the Top 10 of the Commissioner’s Poll. They came in at No. 8 as they get ready for an in-state showdown in Week 6.

Texas Tech will head to Houston this week for a battle of unbeaten teams as someone tries to create separation in the Big 12. It will get the primetime treatment, as well, with a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN.

9. Indiana (+3)

After grinding out a win over Iowa last week, Indiana joins the Top 10 of the Commissioner’s Poll. IU is now No. 9, according to Josh Pate, as it heads into the bye.

The Hoosiers knew they’d face a tall task at Kinnick Stadium in Week 5, and that was the case. The game came down to the wire, but Fernando Mendoza was able to run out the clock – and into the end zone for a safety – on the final play to seal a 20-15 win.

10. Georgia Tech (+3)

Coming off an upset win over Clemson, Georgia Tech found itself facing an early deficit against Wake Forest. But the Yellow Jackets clawed back to get the win – and they’re now at No. 10 in the Commissioner’s Poll college football rankings.

The Demon Deacons went up 20-3 at one point before Georgia Tech found its stride, rattling off 17 straight points to eventually force overtime. Haynes King then scored what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown after Wake Forest’s two-point conversion failed.
