College GameDay podcast debates if USF can upset Miami

USF is riding high into its Week 3 showdown against Miami after defeating Florida on Saturday. Ahead of the showdown, ESPN’s Pete Thamel and Rece Davis revealed who they’re picking to win between the Bulls and Hurricanes on the College GameDay Podcast.
“The Canes win,” Thamel said. “It has been a feel-good, unbelievable ride for that school, for Alex Golesh, for Byrum Brown. But, I just think the caliber of talent, especially on the lines, is too much here, and there is no chance the Canes are sleepwalking.”
Miami would be foolish to overlook USF. The Bulls boast wins over Boise State and Florida this season, both of which were ranked at the time of their respective losses.
USF quarterback Byrum Brown has been the key to the Bulls’ success. In their win over Florida, Brown completed 23-of-his-36 pass attempts for 263 yards and a touchdown, without throwing an interception.
Brown’s arm is far from his only threat. He also led the Bulls in the ground game against the Gators, racking up 66 rushing yards. Despite Brown’s undeniable talent, Davis also doesn’t foresee USF pulling off another upset this weekend.
“Agree, but if you are involved in games of chance, I think I would take the points,” Davis said. “USF’s defense is legit, will make it difficult. I mean, that’s a lot of points. I think, when I last checked, it was like 17. I think USF will be competitive. I think Miami wins the game.”
According to BetMGM, Miami is a 17.5-point favorite against USF. In fairness, the Hurricanes have looked spectacular through the first two weeks of the season. In the team’s season-opener, Miami defeated Notre Dame, 27-24.
Miami quarterback Carson Beck was solid in the showing, throwing for two touchdowns and no interceptions. Alas, the Hurricanes defense stole the show.

Miami held Notre Dame to 314 yards of total offense and forced the Fighting Irish to commit two turnovers. Though the Hurricanes are the heavy favorites, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal isn’t overlooking USF.
“Obviously, a ton of respect for USF their coaches,” Cristobal said. “They’re playing as good a football as just about anybody in the country, the way they beat two top 25 opponents, and again, playing at a high level, really explosive football team, disruptive, high energy, physical, tough, well disciplined. Great opportunity for our program.”
On Saturday, Miami and USF will face off at 4:30 p.m. ET. The game will air live on the CW Network.
