Another interesting week across college baseball has led to more changes inside the latest D1Baseball top 25 rankings. Two series this weekend were played between two top 25 teams, but seven teams overall lost their respective series.

No. 5 Virginia was the highest ranked team to fall over the weekend, losing two out of three against a Virginia Tech team that began the season in the rankings. No. 8 East Carolina also had a disappointing week, losing a midweek showdown at home vs. UNC Wilmington before falling twice at Houston over the weekend to begin AAC play.

Like Virginia, No. 11 Louisville lost a series to an ACC team that had previously been inside D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings. The Cardinals fell twice at NC State. No. 12 UCLA lost three times this week, once coming at Cal State Fullerton before going 0-2 over the weekend at Washington State. No. 25 Iowa went 1-3 on the week, which also included a 1-2 weekend against a Maryland team that has been ranked before.

A pair of top 25 showdowns headlined the weekend and they didn’t disappoint. No. 1 LSU and No. 10 Tennessee battled in a heavyweight SEC showdown, and the Tigers ultimately prevailed with the 2-1 series victory. No. 17 Oklahoma State also faced off against No. 21 Texas, and the Cowboys took two games to clinch the impressive series win.
