Defamation lawsuit filed by former Alabama, Texas WR Isaiah Bond dropped

According to ESPN, a defamation lawsuit filed by former Alabama and Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond has been dropped. Bond filed the lawsuit one week after turning himself into police in April due to an outstanding sexual assault warrant.
“The defamation lawsuit filed by NFL draft prospect Isaiah Bond and his lawyers against a woman who they say made false statements to the Frisco (Texas) Police Department has been dismissed with prejudice by the United States District Court in Northern Texas,” ESPN said.
” … Bond’s lawyers say a sexual encounter with the woman, who was unnamed in the lawsuit, was consensual. The lawsuit asked for economic damages and a civil trial. The dismissal with prejudice ends the case and prevents Bond from refiling the claim again.”
Bond spent this past season playing for Steve Sarkisian in Austin. Brought in with the hopes of being the Longhorns’ No. 1 wide receiver as they head into the SEC, things did not go to plan. While Bond did play in 14 games, he caught just 34 passes for 540 yards and five touchdowns.
Early on, it appeared as if Bond was going to produce as one of the best in the country. But from the Oklahoma game on, nothing could really come to fruition. Injuries certainly played a role however, quarterback Quinn Ewers really sparked a connection with the likes of Matthew Golden, Ryan Wingo, and even tight end Gunnar Helm.

Folks in Tuscaloosa were not too happy to see Bond enter the NCAA transfer portal. Even so, he was a major part in one of the program’s most famous plays — Gravedigger. Bond was on the receiving end of the miracle touchdown throw from Jalen Milroe against Auburn on 4th and 31. The win helped Alabama eventually earn a spot in the College Football Playoff. Of course, it turned out to be Nick Saban‘s final season.
Despite some of the on-field struggles, Bond still projected as an NFL Draft pick. Teams will almost always be interested in a vertical threat from the SEC. Especially those who get a thumbs up from both Saban and Sarkisian. Bond had a chance to be taken on Day 2 until his legal issues came to light.
He wound up not getting taken, still technically being an undrafted free agent. As the off-the-field problems continue on, there has been no sign of an NFL contract coming his way.
