Houston (Texas) North Shore High five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez has narrowed his list of more than 20 offers down to 10 schools.

The 6-foot-2, 180 pounder is now focusing on Ohio State, Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida State, Oklahoma, Oregon, LSU, USC, Texas, and Michigan.

He took unofficial visits this spring to LSU, Oklahoma, TCU, Ohio State and more, and has visited the Crimson Tide more than any other school to this point.

Breaking down the finalists

Sanchez quickly broke down what stands out about each of his top schools:

Ohio State: “BIA (Best in America) I would love to be a part of that and being coached by the OG Coach Walton. I think he can help me get to the league.”

Alabama: “Coach Saban is arguably the best DB coach in college football and I would want to be a part of that long list of greats.”

Texas A&M: “(It’s the) home town school only an hour and half away. It would mean a lot to stay in Texas.”

Florida State: “Coach Surtain down there was an NFL player himself so I feel like he knows what’s best for me.”

Oklahoma: “Coach Valai is the realest coach out of any school, and he’s been here since day one.”

Oregon: “Look who came out last year (Christian Gonzales) one of the best cornerbacks in the draft last year so I would want to keep that going.”

LSU: “They got Denver Harris, and he has the potential to be a first-round pick. I would love to play with a former teammate and then look at all the DBs that came through Death Valley.”

USC: “I like the Cali vibes and Coach Williams can be a big part in my development.”

Texas: “Another home school, two hours away and Coach Sark and Coach Joseph would love to have me.”

Michigan: “They came in late but hit it, and Coach Clink has one of the best corners in college right now in Will Johnson.”

Devin Sanchez Recruiting Profile

Sanchez ranks as the No. 7 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 2 cornerback and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas.

On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this about him as a prospect:

“Tall, athletic cornerback with a high level of technical skill as an underclassman prospect. Stars for one of the top high school football programs in the state of Texas. Listed at an unverified 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Took a big jump as a sophomore, showing lockdown tendencies, particularly in man coverage. Smooth and technical with the footwork, instincts and play speed to stay attached. Makes some impressive plays in downfield coverage. Turned in some strong track times as a sophomore, with a personal best of 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters. Looks to have one of the best size and speed combinations among cornerbacks early on in the 2025 cycle. Will need to continue adding good mass and strength in addition to continuing to develop his already solid ball skills.”

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $180K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
