Diego Pavia blasts Heisman voters after Fernando Mendoza win: 'F all the voters'
Diego Pavia blasted the Heisman Trophy voters on his Instagram story after Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza was named the winner of the 2025 award. In a post on his story, Pavia wrote: “F all the voters,” after reposting a photo from comedian Theo Von.
The Vanderbilt QB was on stage alongside Mendoza, Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love and Ohio State QB Julian Sayin. Pavia came in second place with 189 first-place votes compared to Mendoza’s 643.

Despite his second-place finish, Pavia put together a huge season at Vanderbilt to become one of the finalists for the Heisman. In the end, his play on the field helped 189 voters pencil his name into the top slot for the trophy.
During the season, Pavia not only threw for 3,192 yards and 27 touchdowns, but added 826 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground as a true dual-threat. Pavia would end up producing an SEC-leading 4,018 yards of total offense and 36 combined touchdowns as a result.
It was part of a monster second season at Vanderbilt for Pavia. He helped the Commodores finish with a 10-win regular season and was in the the College Football Playoff race down the stretch under head coach Clark Lea.
Now, Pavia will turn his attention to what’s next in his football career. Pavia is out of eligibility, so he’ll have to turn pro after this season. However, the Commodores still have the ReliaQuest Bowl between Vanderbilt and Iowa on New Year’s Eve.

“God willing, I will be playing in the ReliaQuest Bowl,” Pavia revealed via SportsCenter on Saturday. “If it’s up to me, I’ll be playing.”
It would be one more game for Pavia in a Vanderbilt uniform. Ahead of the NFL Draft process, Pavia explained why he’s keen on suiting up against the Hawkeyes.
“It gives scouts another chance for me to look at our performance against a very good Iowa defense. They’re very tough. They’re going to be really good, and they’re going to bring their A-game. So, I’m going to be super excited about that,” Pavia added.
“And the second, it’ll be my last game with the guys. I have a lot of feelings and emotions about that. Those guys, they mean the world to me. I wouldn’t let them go to battle without me.”
