FIU WR transfer Eric Rivers changes visit plans, will head to Miami this week

One of the top receivers in the NCAA transfer portal has adjusted his visit plans, and Miami will now be the beneficiary of a trip from FIU wide receiver Eric Rivers.
According to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos, Rivers has rescheduled a planned visit to Virginia until next week. He will now visit Miami from Friday to Saturday.
Eric Rivers is one of the top receivers available in the NCAA transfer portal.
Rivers has one year of eligibility remaining and began his career at Memphis before transferring to FIU in 2023 and finishing with 32 catches for 370 yards that season. Then he broke out this past year, finishing with 62 catches for 1,172 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Eric Rivers is capable of absolute domination, though.
He showed that quite clearly in a big game against New Mexico State, going for 295 receiving yards and three touchdowns in the contest. He also had 100-yard games against Florida Atlantic, Monmouth, Kennesaw State and Middle Tennessee.

Indiana, however, held him to just two catches for 18 yards in the season opener in 2024. So how well Eric Rivers’ production scales against higher-quality competition remains to be seen.
In any case, Miami is one of the schools that will get a look.
And the Hurricanes have proven pretty adept at getting high-quality players out of the transfer portal, even from lower levels. Quarterback Cam Ward is a Heisman Trophy finalist this season after transferring in from Washington State. Ward began his career at Incarnate Word.
