On3 4-star OT Garrett Sexton announces top 4, sets commitment date

Hartland (Wis.) Arrowhead three-star offensive tackle Garrett Sexton announced his top 4 of Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Penn State Thursday morning. He announced the news on Twitter.

Sexton also announced that he’ll be committing on May 1.

Sexton is the No. 547 overall prospect and No. 34 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 player in Wisconsin.

On3 rates Sexton higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 243 overall prospect, No. 24 offensive tackle and No. 2 player in Wisconsin.

Minnesota currently stands as the favorite to land a commitment From Sexton according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Golden Gophers sit with a 30.2% chance to land Sexton.

Sexton hasn’t visited Minnesota since last November but he picked up an offer from the Golden Gophers on Jan. 27.

This spring Sexton’s taken to the other three schools in his top 4. He visited Iowa on March 5, Wisconsin on March 28 and Penn State on March 30. Sexton’s also visited Notre Dame (March 27) and Northwestern (April 1) this spring.

While Sexton hasn’t taken a visit to Oklahoma yet, he picked up an offers from the Sooners on March 21.

Garrett Sexton currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $24K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Sexton’s four on the recruiting trail

The three Big Ten programs Sexton has in his top schools all have classes ranked in the top 5 in the Big Ten so far for the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Penn State has six commitments and the Nittany Lions’ class ranks as the No. 15 class in the country and the No. 3 class in the Big Ten. Wisconsin has the No. 4 class in the Big Ten and Iowa has the No. 5 class in the conference.

Wisconsin currently has four commitments in its 2024 class while Iowa sits with seven commitments so far.

Oklahoma’s 2024 class currently isn’t ranked but the Sooners are in the chase for several of the nation’s top prospects. The Sooners’ lone 2024 commitment so far is four-star cornerback Jeremiah Newcombe.
