Georgia lands commitment from Duke transfer outfielder Devin Obee

After entering the NCAA transfer portal, former Duke outfielder Devin Obee has committed to Georgia according to D1 Baseball’s Kendal Rogers. A massive addition for the Bulldogs and head coach Wes Johnson ahead of his second season as the program’s head coach.
Last season for the Blue Devils Obee posted a .309 batting average with 67 hits, 57 runs, 50 RBIs, 11 doubles, two triples, and 16 home runs (one inside the park). A team captain last season who also named the ACC Tournament MVP last season after racking up seven hits, eight RBIs, and three home runs in Duke’s four straight victories en route to an ACC Tournament Championship.
“I’m super blessed to announce that I have committed to play baseball at University of Georgia this spring,” Obee tweeted on Tuesday. “A huge thank you to my family and friends for helping me come to this decision. Thank you to the entire @BaseballUGA staff for making me feel at home! #GoDawgs.”
Obee transfers to Georgia following three total seasons at Duke, joining the program with 147 games with 98 starts under his belt and a .269 career batting average. Recording 101 hits, 88 runs, and 25 homers in his college career following his breakout 2024 season.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound outfielder is an elite athlete known for his strength in the batter’s box. Hitting 400 foot home runs in his Duke career, named a National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American in July.

“Obee is one of the best athletes at Duke in any sport,” Duke Director of Sports Performance Dan Perlmutter said. “He has elite speed, power, strength and athleticism, and has worked incredibly hard to develop and harness these assets to become a dominating power hitter and center fielder. Devin makes highlight plays on the field seem effortless and moves super heavy loads in the weight room at eye-popping speeds. He brings a quiet and powerful combination of humility and energy to his training.”
Obee joins a large transfer portal class for the Bulldogs which includes infielders Charlie Jones and Ryland Zaborowski, pitchers like Eric Hammond and Bradley Stewart, and several others.
