Georgia receiver Michael Jackson signs with Purdue out of NCAA transfer portal

Georgia wide receiver Michael Jackson has signed with Purdue, the second transfer of the day between those two programs. Fellow Georgia receiver Nitro Tuggle earlier announced that he had committed to the Boilermarkers.

Jackson spent just one season at Georgia and had very little production to show for it. He finished the 2024 season with just one catch for 10 yards.

Michael Jackson was significantly more productive in his stint at USC, prior to transferring to Georgia. In three years with the Trojans he logged 46 catches for 498 yards and five touchdowns.

His breakout campaign came as a sophomore in 2022. During that season, Tuggle posted career highs in catches (17), yards (236) and touchdowns (4).

Prior to enrolling at USC, Michael Jackson was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 287 overall recruit in the class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He also checked in as the No. 16 ranked wide receiver in the class and the No. 2 overall player from the state of Nevada, hailing from Las Vegas (NV) Desert Pines.

As noted, Michael Jackson isn’t the only Georgia receiver to transfer in recent days. There was another, also on Monday, in fact.

Nitro Tuggle to transfer to Purdue

Along with Michael Jackson, Nitro Tuggle will be making the same move to Purdue. Tuggle committed to Purdue out of the NCAA transfer portal, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Tuggle spent only a few days in the portal.

He entered the portal amid a backdrop of legal trouble. The talented wideout was arrested on misdemeanor charges for reckless driving and speeding in mid-March. His driving arrest was one in a string of related incidents for the Bulldogs over the last couple years.

Tuggle had previously entered the transfer portal in the winter window, only to later have a change of heart and return to the program. After the spring, he reconsidered and opted to head out for good.

A four-star prospect out of Indiana, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Nitro Tuggle enrolled at Georgia in the spring and played in seven games for the Bulldogs. He recorded three catches in total, with two for 25 yards in UGA’s win over Tennessee, finishing as the third-highest graded offensive player in the big Bulldogs victory.
