Jackson State came to CoMo with no wins in five attempts this season. Then, after being in it all night long with Missouri, they were able to deal the final blow inside Mizzou Arena.

The Tigers got the ball back down one with 14 seconds left in the game. That’s when, with a spinning jump shot, Chase Adams gave his team their first victory of the season after it bounced around and the home team was unable to answer.

Missouri was winning 71-65 with 1:17 left in the game. Jackson State then closed on an 8-1 run in the final 87 seconds, including the pair of jumpers from in the final 31 seconds.

Those shots were four of Adams’ six total points on the night. He also posted five assists, three rebounds, and a steal in his 34 minutes of action. Meanwhile, Ken Evans Jr. scored 22 to lead everyone in the contest as he shot 9-6, including 3-6 from three, and recorded four rebounds and three steals in 38 minutes.

Nick Honor (17) and Caleb Grill (15) led the losing effort from Missouri. They led by as much as eight points but, by the end, their 18 turnovers and inability to truly pull away from their opponent came back to bite them by the final buzzer.

Jackson State, who is starting the season on a nine-game run on the road, will look to make one into two against Georgetown next weekend. As for Missouri, who is now 3-2 on the season, they will try to lick their wounds against South Carolina State and Loyola Maryland before facing a five-game stretch of quality competition.

Max Abmas hits game-winning shot to lift Texas over Louisville

Texas survived and remains undefeated (4-0) on the season on Sunday thanks to Max Abmas, who drained a game-winning jump shot as time expired in the Longhorns’ 81-80 win against Louisville in the Saatva Empire Classic.

Abmas joined the team this offseason through the transfer portal after spending the first four seasons of his collegiate career at Oral Roberts.

He is already coming up big just four games into his tenure as a Longhorn. He played a team-high 38 minutes on Sunday with his 13th and 14th points of the game coming on his game-winning shot.

After the heroic play, he discussed what was going through his mind in the epic final moment.

“I was just thinking ‘Go win’,” Abmas said. “We had seven seconds left there, had enough time to take a couple dribbles and get to my spot and I knocked it down.”
