Des Moines (Iowa) Valley four-star safety Jayden McGregory is down to four schools and has locked in a commitment date later this summer, he announced on Wednesday.

McGregory will choose between Louisville, Missouri, Minnesota and Kansas on July 7. He currently has official visits set with each of his four finalists, as the Gophers will host him this weekend, followed by Missouri (June 6), Kansas (June 13) and Louisville (June 21).

From there, he’ll look to come to a decision with a little less than three weeks until his announcement date.

The 6-foot-2, 192-pounder is the No. 312 overall prospect and No. 27 safety in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 is higher on McGregory than the other services though, tabbing him as the nation’s No. 298 prospect and No. 25 safety.

He was also one of the top performers earlier this spring during Week 4 of Overtime’s OT7 event.

“A physical presence in the secondary, Des Moines (Iowa) Valley On300 prospect Jayden McGregory came up with several big pass breakups including the game winner against Hellstar. He gave receivers issues with his size, length, speed combination,” wrote On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong.

McGregory on his finalists

In an interview with On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this spring, he broke down what stands out about each program:

Kansas: “It is about the staff at Kansas. Everyone on that staff is a good coach, I have talked to almost everyone and they are building a special 2026 recruiting class.

Minnesota: “Coach Collins is the defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Minnesota and he has been recruiting me from the beginning. He offered me my freshman year, so we have a great relationship and we still talk every day. He puts safeties into the NFL and you see Koi Perich was a freshman All-American this past season, so he knows how to coach.”

Missouri: “It is a school I have visited three times. I was at their spring game last year, then I went to a game during the season and I was back for a spring practice. I like coach Link a lot. He is the special teams coordinator, so not a lot of guys talk about him, but he is from Iowa, we talk almost every day and we have a great connection. Coach Yoro is great too. I like how he coaches and the guys around the program like him a lot too.”

Louisville: “I have been to Louisville twice and I just love how they are keeping in contact,. Coach Ron English has been doing it for a long time, so he knows ball and seeing him coach in practice really stood out to me. I like what Louisville is doing and they are up there for sure.”
