Jerry Jones reveals thought process behind decision to sit Ezekiel Elliott

The Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, has confirmed that star running back Ezekiel Elliott isn’t going to play against the Chicago Bears. Reportedly, he needs to take time to recover from a knee issue. Jones explained the thought process behind the decision.
“It had everything to do with how we’re doing this, this weekend with this bye coming up. I’m not so sure we would’ve done it this way had we not had the bye,” Jerry Jones said.
So, the schedule worked out for the Cowboys to give Ezekiel Elliott a week off and then use the bye week for additional rest.

“This just gives too good of an opportunity if we don’t use Zeke, and we’ll see how he is responding as the week goes along, but if we don’t use him, it’s just too great of a time to get him in top shape.”
Dallas plays Chicago on Sunday. The next week is the bye. That will be followed up with a trip to Green Bay. The Cowboys are hoping to have Ezekiel Elliott back from injury by then. However, it’s hard to predict how his body is going to respond to rest.

A standout running back for Ohio State, Ezekiel Elliott has been with the Cowboys since they drafted him in 2016. During his time there, he’s made three Pro Bowls. For the 2022 season, he has 443 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
Jerry Jones praised Odell Beckham Jr.
Odell Beckham Jr. has been a free agent since he tore his ACL in the Super Bowl. However, that doesn’t mean that he’s been forgotten, as he’s still receiving praise from people like Jerry Jones.
“He made the greatest catch I’ve seen,” Jerry Jones said of Beckham. Of course, Jones couldn’t help himself in the end, bringing up Dez’s catch that never was from the playoffs.
“Other than the one Dez [Bryant] made for the touchdown against Green Bay. Bottom line is, Odell is a player that I admire a lot.”
