Week 4 of the college football season was chaotic, with multiple ranked matchups and upsets. Naturally, that’s shaken up a lot of rankings around the country. That includes the rankings from Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt.

There are some pretty major changes from last week in the rankings Klatt produced. That includes three teams in the Top 5 moving, including his previous No. 2 team dropping to No. 7 despite a win. They’d be replaced by his previous No. 6 team. On top of that, one new team jumped into the rankings altogether.

Klatt balanced last week’s outcomes with how teams looked in their games to come up with these rankings. Now, with that in mind, here’s what his Top 10 looks like.

1. Ohio State Buckeyes

Joel Klatt opened his Top 10 rankings for college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The defending national champions are coming off a bye, so they couldn’t add to their resume. Still, they’ve already proven to be excellent.

The Buckeyes are now sitting at 3-0. That’s all been in the non-conference so far, including against another College Football Playoff hopeful. Next week, however, Ohio State is looking at Big Ten play with a trip to play the Washington Huskies.

2. Miami Hurricanes (+4)

The Miami Hurricanes are now coming in at second for Klatt in the country. This comes on the heels of a win over rival Florida, where they put the clamps down on the Gators. In particular, the defense has shined early for Miami.

Now 4-0, Miami can put non-conference play in the rearview mirror. That has included multiple wins against teams ranked in the AP Top 25 when they played. Now, it’s time for a bye week to reset and get ready to play Florida State.

3. Georgia Bulldogs (+2)

The Georgia Bulldogs came into the season with a few more question marks on their roster than they’re used to having under Kirby Smart. Then, they seemed to answer those with a very tough road win against Tennessee. Now, coming off a bye week, Klatt has them third in all of college football.

SEC play continues next week and the schedule doesn’t get any easier. The Bulldogs are set to host the Alabama Crimson Tide next week. That’s the beginning of four SEC games in a row without a bye.

4. Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State came into the 2025 season with national championship expectations. That’s reflected in where Klatt ranked them. For the time being, Penn State hasn’t had a chance to flash that potential yet, though, playing three relatively easy non-conference games before going into a bye week last week.

That will all change next week, though. There will be White Out conditions in Happy Valley on Saturday when the Nittany Lions play host to the Oregon Ducks. That’s a rematch of last year’s Big Ten Championship Game, and it’s a chance for both teams to make a statement.

5. Oregon Ducks (-2)

The Oregon Ducks came into 2025 a little under the radar, coming off a great season in 2024 but with a frustrating CFP performance. Quickly, however, Oregon proved that quarterback Dante Moore could hit the ground running and now the Ducks sit at 4-0, dominating outmanned competition, including Oregon State last week.

Oregon faces a massive step up in competition next week. The Ducks travel across the country to take on Penn State. That’s a matchup between Joel Klatt’s No. 5 and No. 4 college football teams.

6. Florida State Seminoles (+3)

Nobody had Florida State ranked coming into the season. Now, Klatt has the Seminoles ranked sixth nationally. It goes to show how well they’ve played, including a dominating win over Kent State this past week.

Florida State is now getting geared up for ACC play and another ramp-up in competition. That’s going to come on Friday night when the Seminoles travel to Charlottesville. There, they’ll take on a Virginia team off to a hot start this season.

7. LSU Tigers (-5)

The LSU Tigers have put together a few marquee wins this season, though, as time has gone on, those wins over Clemson and Florida have become less impressive. Still, at 4-0 and coming off a win over Southeastern Louisiana, the Tigers are still in Klatt’s Top 10. They’re also in position to make some noise in the SEC race.

LSU is ready for another major test. This time, the Tigers are taking the road. There, they’re set to take on Ole Miss in Oxford. That’s, arguably, the toughest team they’ll see all season. Ole Miss is also one of five remaining opponents currently ranked in the AP Top 25.

8. Oklahoma Sooners (-1)

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables celebrates with Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Jer’Michael Carter (84) after a college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Auburn Tigers at Gaylord Family Ð Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025. Oklahoma won 24-17.

The Oklahoma Sooners got off to a hot start this season on a newly built offense, which is led by quarterback John Mateer. That’s clearly been enough to get Klatt’s attention and earn this ranking. Now sitting at 4-0, the Sooners have some big wins against Michigan and Auburn too.

From here, the Sooners are going to have a little bit of a break. Oklahoma is heading into a bye week before getting ready to take on Kent State. After that, it’s time for Red River.

9. Indiana Hoosiers (NR)

The Indiana Hoosiers were the shock of the season in 2024. Nobody is overlooking the Hoosiers now, even if many rankings seemed to expect a step back on the field. After hammering Illinois 63-10, the Hoosiers are once again a Big Ten and CFP threat.

Next week, Indiana continues Big Ten play. This time, they’ll go on the road to take on Iowa. It’s a chance for Indiana to begin building momentum heading toward the middle of the season.

10. Texas Longhorns (-2)

The Texas Longhorns have been an interesting team early in the season. The only team with a loss who Klatt currently ranks among his Top 10 college football teams, the Longhorns opened with a tough loss on the road to Ohio State. Since then, they’ve won against lesser competition, including a 55-0 win over Sam Houston State.

If there’s been a concern, it’s Arch Manning. The highly touted quarterback hasn’t lived up to expectations. With a bye week before SEC play kicks off against Florida, the Longhorns are looking for answers there.
