Joey Galloway shakes up top five rankings after Week 5 of college football

Week 5 was one of the most highly anticipated slates of the 2025 college football, and it didn’t disappoint. Now that it’s wrapped up, ESPN’s Joey Galloway has revealed his top five rankings ahead of Week 6.
There was no movement from Galloway’s top spot compared to last week. However, two teams were on the rise and two teams found themselves on his list for the first time.
Despite keeping the same No. 1 team, Galloway has shaken his list up in the fallout of Week 5. See which teams made the list below.
1. Ohio State Buckeyes (-)
Ohio State enjoyed a bye week during Week 4, and returned to action on Saturday with a statement victory over Washington on the road. Some believed this could be an early test in Big Ten play for the Buckeyes, but would come away with a 24-6 victory.
Now 4-0, the Buckeyes will host Minnesota next weekend. So far, they’ve proven on the field exactly why they’re atop Galloway’s list.
2. Miami Hurricanes (+2)

Miami’s off to a 4-0 start to the season and haven’t been in a tightly contested game late since Week 1’s 27-24 win over Notre Dame. While they were on a bye during Week 5, they’re still Galloway’s No. 2.
Looking ahead to Week 6, and the Hurricanes have perhaps their toughest test left on their schedule against Florida State. All eyes will be on that matchup, though Miami may have the advantage on paper with the Seminoles coming off a shocking loss to Virginia in double overtime.
3. Oregon Ducks (NR)
Galloway didn’t have Oregon in his top five last week, but that was because he wanted to see what they could do against top competition. Well, the Ducks have convinced him after Saturday after traveling to Penn State during Week 5 and beat the Nittany Lions on their home turf 30-24 in overtime.

Oregon will be on its bye this Saturday, but will return next week to host No. 8 Indiana in another top-10 showdown for Dan Lanning and company. As it stands, the Ducks won’t face another ranked team for the rest of the regular season.
4. Texas A&M Aggies (+1)
Texas A&M came off its bye following its 41-40 win over Notre Dame in South Bend and didn’t miss a beat against Auburn. The Aggies had some defensive concerns coming in, giving up at least 21 points in each of its first three games. However, the Aggies held Auburn to one yard in the fourth quarter as they hung on to defeat the Tigers 16-10.
Texas A&M will now look ahead to Week 6, where they host a tricky Mississippi State team that has already doubled its win total from one year ago. It’ll be the second of a three-game home stand for the Aggies, which began against Auburn.
5. Ole Miss Rebels (NR)
Trinidad Chambliss has arguably been the biggest surprise of the college football season. He added another reason why on Saturday against LSU, recording 385 yards of total offense during the 24-19 win over the top-five opponent.
It’s the third-straight week that Chambliss has put on a star-making performance for the Rebels. With the type of momentum he and the Rebels have, it’s likely not the last.
