Basketball season is in full effect. Typically, the recruiting process for high school recruits begins to slow a bit during this time. This is because of the hectic schedule from both parties (players and coaches) — multiple games a week, leading to it being more difficult to find time during the midst of the season.

However, several head coaches and assistants in college basketball make it their mission to visit their top recruits. This helps further build a relationship, continues the scouting process, and shows the player that they are a priority for that school.

I’ve decided to do a mini series in which I ask several of the nation’s top 2025 prospects which coaches have been in to see them this season. This includes coming to their respective high school to visit in between classes, for games, and practices.

Five-Star Plus+ PF Caleb Wilson | Five-Star Plus+ SG Meleek Thomas | Five-Star Plus+ SG Isiah Harwell | 4-star SF Jalen Haralson | 4-star SG Trey McKenney | 4-star PG Darius Acuff |

Next up is elite shooting guard Jasper Johnson, a 6-foot-4 junior out of Link Academy in Branson, Mo. The Lexington, Ky. native is ranked as the No. 12 overall recruit in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the nation’s No. 5 shooting guard.

Johnson recently announced his top 10 schools and scheduled three official visits. Read more on that here.

Scouting Report

“Jasper Johnson is a lefty with nice size and good length. What he does is shoot the ball. Johnson has deep range that extends well beyond the three-point arc, and he is at he’s best in catch and shoot or with one/two dribble pull-ups. Would like to see Johnson tighten the handle, can struggle once he is in the paint. Lacks blow by burst at this point to get past his man at the point of attack. Has a crafty lay-up package around the basket, especially with the left hand. Solid explosion with a running start. Can get beat off the bounce in the open floor on defense. Will use both hands to dribble, but most of the time it comes back to his left hand. The range extends well beyond the three-point arc. Plays with a lot of confidence. Can get you into sets. Dad played football at Kentucky and NFL.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
