Kenny Dillingham posts cryptic message after rumors link him to jobs across college football
After weeks of speculation, Lane Kiffin is expected to leave Ole Miss for LSU. Everyone in the college football world is talking about the massive move, including other head coaches. On Sunday, Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham posted a timely tweet, seemingly linked to Kiffin’s decision.
“Beware of destination addiction: The idea that happiness is the next place, the next job, or even with the next partner. Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are.” – Denzel Washington #BeAGoodPerson #MakeGoodDecisions #HaveMoreFunWorkingHarderThanAnyoneInTheCountry #LIFERS,” Dillingham wrote on X.
Dillingham’s post not only appeared to reference Kiffin’s decision, but also stood as a message to ASU’s fans: He’s not going anywhere. Dillingham is in his third season at the helm of the Sun Devils.
He took over the program in 2023 after previously serving as Oregon‘s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In his debut campaign at ASU, Dillingham led the team to a 3-9 record.
However, the Sun Devils made massive improvements the following season, winning the Big 12 and making their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff. After falling to Arizona this weekend, ASU won’t be returning to the CFP this season.
Nonetheless, the program’s future is bright with Dillingham leading the way. Other programs would certainly like to have a similar outlook. When numerous job openings popped up earlier this month, Dillingham’s name repeatedly appeared in coaching carousel conversations.

Alas, Kenny Dillingham never fueled the rumors or played along. Instead, he immediately squashed any speculation with a direct statement.
“I was never leaving, I never said I was leaving — this is home,” Dillingham said. “You have to continue to push and my job running the program is to push and push and push until you can’t push anymore. And if I didn’t do that, I’d be cheating my players.
“I’d be cheating my staff. I’d be cheating the fan base. I’d be cheating everybody in the city. I’d be cheating the local businesses that feed off of us winning, and then they sell more beer. I’d be cheating everybody.”
With 19 players committed to Arizona State in the 2026 recruiting cycle, Dillingham is already preparing to bring more success to the program. The program will undoubtedly reel in numerous talented transfers this offseason as well as Dillingham looks to take the Sun Devils to new heights.
