Landry Kiffin, daughter of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, sent social media into a frenzy on Monday morning. She posted a photo with LSU linebacker Whit Weeks, seemingly announcing a relationship between the two. This comes just days before the Rebels and Tigers face off in Oxford, possibly bringing some confusion to the table from a rooting standpoint.

However, the air was cleared by Lane Kiffin later in the night. Kiffin gave his reaction to his daughter’s post, confirming she will be cheering for Ole Miss. He even added a blood emoji, implying family wins out at the moment.

Landry Kiffin put a photo of her and Weeks up on Instagram, captioned “happy :)” Weeks is there in the comment section, saying “Nice dude” only for Kiffin to reply “thanks bud.” What many call a “hard launch” of a relationship, the reply from Lane only takes it a step further.

As you can see from the Ole Miss head coach’s tweet, he used some nostalgia. He is pictured with Landry when she was close to a baby, enjoying some beach time. Around the time she was born, Kiffin was still involved with the USC Trojans and even the head coach of the Oakland Raiders.

All attention is on the Rebels now, though. Both Kiffin and Brian Kelly are looking to keep an undefeated overall record. Getting to 2-0 in SEC play would continue to set the pace inside the league as the race to Atlanta continues. If nothing else, there is now an interesting subplot.

More on Whit Weeks, career performance against Ole Miss

Weeks goes into his third-ever game against Ole Miss, looking to break the deadlock. As things stand, he has been on the winning and losing end once against the Rebels. Saturday night is an opportunity to finish his playing career over .500 against one of LSU’s top rivals.

Some of Weeks’ best performances of his career have come in the matchup, though. A total of 27 tackles are in the stat sheet, four of which were for a loss. Kiffin surely will be quite familiar with where Weeks is on the field before every play.

Maybe the postgame handshakes are something to watch for. Kiffin is never afraid to have some fun and might find himself talking to Weeks afterward. His daughter could be down on the field too, given it’s at Vaught Hemingway Stadium.
