Live Updates: 5-star DL David Hicks commitment ceremony

Five-star Katy (Texas) Paetow defensive lineman David Hicks is set to make his commitment today, choosing between a top seven of Alabama, Miami, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M.

Hicks is the No. 9 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks both as the nation’s No. 1 defensive lineman and the top senior recruit in the state of Texas.

3:32 p.m. CT: No hats on the table for Hicks still, looks like he has a hat or two tucked away under the table.

3:29 p.m. CT: Hicks and his family are at the table. Decision coming here imminently.

3:24 p.m. CT: It’s coming down to Texas A&M or Oklahoma for David Hicks. Things have shifted in the last 24 hours or so to make this recruitment a lot closer than it was. Could go either way.

3:21 p.m. CT: Hicks is on the stage and doing mic checks with ESPN, no hats on the table just yet.

3:15 p.m. CT: The man of the hour has arrived. David Hicks enters the gym in a full suit and tie.

3:14 p.m. CT: 2023 Texas A&M four-star LB commit Daymion Sanford is in attendance for teammate David Hicks’ commitment ceremony. Has an A&M sweatshirt on and is hopeful Hicks choose the Aggies.

3:10 p.m. CT: David Hicks’ family and teammates have arrived, no hats on the table just yet.

3:03 p.m. CT: Hicks’ teammates are beginning to arrive. One says he is predicting “something wild,” while 2023 SMU three-star LB commit Alex Kilgore is being secretive on the choice.

2:49 p.m. CT: Things are still getting set up here. ESPN cameras are set and stage is ready, but no hats or people in attendance just yet.

2:45 p.m. CT: Just arrived here at David Hicks’ commitment ceremony. We’re expecting his decision to come in a little less than 45 minutes.
