Lone Star Showdown injury updates: Wednesday availability report released for Texas A&M at Texas

FaceProfileby: Thomas Goldkamp8 hours ago

Texas and Texas A&M are set to meet on Black Friday in a game that will carry significant College Football Playoff implications. While the Longhorns are trying to secure a berth with three losses, the Aggies are trying to claim a potential first-round bye.

The injury report looms large for both teams heading into the regular-season finale. The Longhorns had far fewer players listed on the initial availability report released on Tuesday.

So who’s in and who’s out for the big game, the Lone Star Showdown? Let’s dive into the Wednesday night availability report for Texas and Texas A&M below.

Texas Longhorns

OUT – 1ST HALF
LB Ty-Anthony Smith

QUESTIONABLE
LB Anthony Hill Jr.

Texas A&M Aggies

OUT
Bryce Anderson
Rashad Johnson

DOUBTFUL
LB Scooby Williams
RB Le’Veon Moss

Of note for Texas A&M, star running back Le’Veon Moss hasn’t played since the Florida game on Oct. 11. He appears to be rounding into form to some degree, but starting with a doubtful designation on Tuesday isn’t a great sign for his weekend availability.

Of course, Texas A&M is deep in the backfield and can likely make up for it. Still, Moss has accounted for 389 yards rushing and six scores this season. Having him would be very helpful.

Texas A&M also listed linebacker Scooby Williams as doubtful for the game on the first report issued Tuesday. It’ll be interesting to monitor his status throughout the week.

Finally, safeties Bryce Anderson and Rashad Johnson will be out in the secondary. That will leave things a little thin, as Anderson is a veteran back there.

For Texas, the Texas A&M game arrives with far less overall impact to the roster. Linebacker Ty-Anthony Smith will miss the first half as the result of a targeting penalty in the previous game.

Beyond that the only player listed on Tuesday’s report was linebacker Anthony Hill. He’s obviously a hugely important piece for Texas, so monitoring his status later in the week will be vital.

Texas and Texas A&M are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
