Mark Ingram calls out Johnny Manziel, college football analysts after Alabama's win over Vanderbilt

The excitement for the Alabama Crimson Tide game against the Vanderbilt Commodores was palpable going into last Saturday. Perhaps a bit of a surprise to former Crimson Tide running back turned analyst Mark Ingram was that the excitement was for Vanderbilt. That included a certain amount of hype coming from some media members and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.
Of course, Alabama would go on to win the game 30-14. So, when Ingram got on The Triple Option, he had to have the last laugh over Vanderbilt, wearing a Crimson Tide hoodie and calling out everyone who had been riding high on the Commodores.
“Y’all love Vanderbilt,” Ingram said. “Y’all anointed Vanderbilt as the new everything. I mean, we have Johnny Manziel on the sideline… Everybody must think Vandy is it because, I mean, even Johnny Football was on the sideline wearing a Diego Pavia jersey. So, Roll Damn Tide. Go on with the show.”
At one point, Vanderbilt wouldn’t have been in a conversation with Alabama. Then, the Commodores upset the Crimson Tide last season on their way to a bowl game. That was on the back of the play from quarterback Diego Pavia. This year, once again, Pavia has Vanderbilt playing well, and they entered the game 5-0.
Recently, the relationship between Pavia and Manziel has gained plenty of attention. In fact, Manziel was on the sideline for the Alabama game, even wearing a Pavia jersey. So, perhaps it’s not a surprise that Ingram felt something about Manziel, in particular, who broke out in college football by beating Alabama.

Usurpingly, Ingram had gone into the game predicting his alma mater would get the win, and they did take care of business. That was boosted by winning the turnover battle, holding onto the ball for more than 37 minutes, and converting two fourth downs. So, there is plenty of reason why he gets to celebrate in the wake of that on his show.
Johnny Manziel congratulated Ty Simpson on-field after Alabama win
Manziel had made his loyalty to the game between Alabama and Vanderbilt clear long before kickoff. That didn’t stop him from congratulating Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson on the field after the game.
“Hell of a game, bro. You playing like a baller,” Manziel told Simpson.
It was a great game for Simpson. He finished with 340 yards and two touchdowns. Now, he’s going to try and keep those good times going next Saturday against Missouri. Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt, meanwhile, have a bye week to bounce back from the loss.
