The SEC is going to play host to a few massive games this weekend. That includes the Alabama Crimson Tide making the trip to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. There, both teams are looking to solidify themselves as contenders this season.

Alabama has been trying to re-earn some trust in the general public since the Week 1 loss to Florida State. Meanwhile, Georgia is coming off a statement win over Tennessee. Despite that, former Alabama running back Mark Ingram is all in on the Crimson Tide. So, during the latest Triple Option, he made sure to pick Alabama to win, taking a shot at Georgia in the process.

“I like Alabama and the points,” Mark Ingram said. “2.5? You’re giving Bama 2.5? I like us to go on and cover that. Win by a field goal in Athens. We’re gonna turn this thing around. A tough Georgia team, Gunner Stockton, Kirby Smart. We own them. Nine of the last 10 we have won. We own them. They are our little brother. It’s going to be no different in Athens this weekend. Bama, we’re gonna turn the corner. We’re going to get this win.”

The idea that Georgia is Alabama’s little brother might be a little difficult for some fans to swallow. After all, the Bulldogs have won two national championships since the Crimson Tide won their last. At the same time, when these two meet in head-to-head battles, it’s been all Alabama since Nick Saban landed in Tuscaloosa.

Since then, Alabama is 9-2 against Georgia. Both teams have won a national championship directly against the other during that time. It’s also success that carried over into the Kalen DeBoer era last season.

Within that context, former Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray was able to admit that Georgia has an Alabama problem. He wouldn’t necessarily go as far as Mark Ingram went, of course, but he did admit that something needs to change in this series.

“I would say yes because there is an Alabama problem,” Aaron Murray said. “I still think there is. You can go back to that national championship, and who knows what would have happened if [Jameson] Williams doesn’t go down with the ACL. So, I think Georgia had a great team that year. Obviously, lost to Alabama in that SEC Championship Game. Found a way to come back and redeem it for a national championship… But yeah, there’s still an Alabama problem. There’s 100 percent an Alabama problem. I felt way more confident last year for Georgia going into Tuscaloosa, on the road. Than what I do now with Georgia hosting Alabama.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, September 27th. It promises to once again be a thrilling game with both teams coming off bye weeks to prepare.
