Mark Ingram reveals his top three teams in College Football Playoff field
Following the reveal of the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket, FOX’s Mark Ingram selected his top three teams to win it all. His first choice was an easy one, not even needing an explanation. Ingram went with the Ohio State Buckeyes, despite watching them lose on Saturday in the Big Ten Championship.
His second team then comes from the SEC, rolling with the Georgia Bulldogs. Ingram gave reasoning behind the pick, pointing to the head coach. Mix in some of the offensive weapons that have emerged of late, Ingram is trusting prior experience is going to come into play.
“Kirby Smart is him,” Ingram said. “Kirby Smart, man. How he gets that team prepared, how tough they re defensively, how, offensively, they are hitting their stride. They run the football, Gunner Stockton makes good decisions, they got Zachariah Branch on the outside, explosive playmaker. Kirby just knows how to get his team to play tough, championship-level football… Georgia, Kirby Smart — they just have championship caliber, and they have championship pedigree. I can’t put nothing past Kirby, I think he’s the best coach.”
Mark Ingram chooses Texas Tech as third team
The third selection for Ingram came as a surprise to his co-host, Rob Stone. Ingram is feeling something out in West Texas with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Winners of the Big 12 after going 11-1 in the regular season, Ingram enjoys watching Joey McGuire‘s bunch play.

“There’s something about this team in Lubbock,” Ingram said. “They give it to you how you want. You want to throw it vertically? They can do that. You want to throw it outside the numbers? They can do that. You want them to run the football? They can do that. You want them to rush the football? They can do that. You want them to turn the football over? They can do that. And they’re on a mission. Great head coach and there’s just something about that team that I like a lot because they play football the right way.”
None of these three is scheduled to play in the first round. All of them earned a first-round bye, getting back on the field around the new year. Ohio State heads to Arlington for the Cotton Bowl, Georgia enters a familiar place in the Sugar Bowl, and Texas Tech will travel to South Florida for the Orange Bowl. Hard Rock Stadium will also host the national championship and Ingram expects one of them to be there at the end.
